❓ What is Result Re-Evaluation in IGNOU?

Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU) offers a formal Re-evaluation facility for students who are not satisfied with their marks, grades, or results in a term-end examination.

💡 Rule of Best Score: The better of the two scores (original marks/grades vs. marks/grades received after re-evaluation) will be considered and updated in your official grade card record.

📋 What are the Rules for Result Re-Evaluation?

1. Strict Deadline: The request for re-evaluation must be submitted by the student within one month (30 days) of the declaration of his/her result.
2. Calculation of Date: The 30-day window is calculated from the date on which the specific result is officially uploaded and placed on the IGNOU website.
3. Better Score Conserved: After re-evaluation, the better of the two scores (original marks/grade vs. re-evaluated marks/grade) will be updated on your profile.
4. Status Communication: The revised results will be updated on the IGNOU website (www.ignou.ac.in). The minimum processing time required for re-evaluation is 30 days from the receipt of the application.
5. TEE Only: Re-evaluation is strictly permissible for Term-End Examination (written theory papers) only. It is NOT allowed for Projects, Dissertations, Practicals/Lab courses, Workshops, Assignments, or Seminars.
6. Envelope Labeling: If submitting offline, you must write "APPLICATION FORM FOR RE-EVALUATION OF ANSWER SCRIPTS" clearly on the top of the envelope containing your form.

The fee for re-evaluation of answer scripts is:

Payment Mode: Payable via a Demand Draft (DD) drawn in favor of "IGNOU" and payable at the city where your respective IGNOU Regional Center is situated.

❓ Re-Evaluation Frequently Asked Questions

1. Can I apply for re-evaluation and photocopy of answer sheet together? Yes, you can apply for both simultaneously. In fact, it is highly recommended to request a photocopy of your answer script alongside re-evaluation so that you can verify where the marks were deducted.

2. What happens if my marks decrease after re-evaluation? IGNOU follows the "Rule of Best Score". If your marks decrease during re-evaluation, your original higher marks are preserved in the final grade card. Your score will not be reduced.

3. How long does it take for re-evaluation results to appear on the Grade Card? Re-evaluation results are usually declared on the portal within 30 to 45 days of applying. Once declared, it takes about 10-15 working days for the updated marks to reflect on your official Grade Card database.
